MALCARACTER is a wine-growing project in the Ribera del Duero with no other aim than to return to the origins of Castilian viticulture. The name is a tribute to the Castilian temperament. It is a sustainable project that is in harmony with nature and the terroir and aims to recover and valorise the indigenous grape varieties. Harvesting is manual, fermentation is spontaneous and not much happens in the cellar.
MALCARACTER is a clear example of how Tempranillo in Ribera del Duero can articulate itself quite unpretentiously. It is a tribute to the unknown Castilian winemakers of past centuries and to their character, of which the winemakers are justifiably proud.

From sustainable, pesticide- and insecticide-free cultivation. It tastes as classic as you would expect. Strong and spicy on the nose, black fruit, partly candied. Very well balanced. The wine has matured for 6 months in French and American oak barrels and has a good structure with a ripe, fruity finish.

The structure and flavours of this Tempranillo are well suited to grilled meat, be it beef, lamb or pork. The fruitiness of the wine harmonises with the roasted flavours of the barbecue. It is also a suitable accompaniment to tapas classics and traditional Spanish dishes. Think Manchego cheese, chorizo, patatas bravas or grilled Serrano ham.
