• Platé - banana wine from Teneriffe

The Platé Banana Wine from Tenerife is an impressive light Blanco de Platano from the Canary Island.

This wine is made from plátano, the Spanish word for banana, by removing the banana skin and then preparing a fruit juice that ferments at a low temperature.

With Platé, the first "banana wine" of the Canary Islands, Carlos Guevara and Christian Ramos have created a delicious banana wine on Tenerife. Strictly speaking, it is not a wine, as it is made solely from carefully selected and fermented bananas in a complex process. There are no added colourings or flavourings.

Pale yellow shiny colour. Bouquet fresh, fruity and very tropical (peach, pineapple, guava, passion fruit with other white varieties such as apple), with nuances of banana,. Pleasantly sweet with a note of fine pastry. On the palate, it is also sweet, but not too much. The floral nuances and its fruity flavour give it a tropical character. Then again, there is a hint of banana.

Serving suggestions: It is ideal with aperitifs, rice and fish dishes, for example raw or smoked fish (sushi, sashimi), meat, salads and desserts.

Serving temperature: Serve cold (between 6 and 8 ºC) and use ice or a cooler at the table.
