Ramón Bilbao Crianza represents a modern and approachable Rioja style, combining expressive fruit, freshness and the distinctive character of a historic Spanish winery. Founded in 1924, Bodegas Ramón Bilbao combines traditional winemaking expertise with a contemporary approach to quality and regional expression. The Crianza is one of the winery's signature wines and showcases the fresh, fruity and balanced character of Rioja Tempranillo.

In the glass, it displays a bright ruby-red colour with youthful violet highlights. The nose is dominated by intense dark fruit aromas, particularly blackberry and plum, complemented by subtle notes of liquorice, vanilla, coconut and delicate bakery and spice nuances derived from ageing. On the palate, the wine is juicy, elegant and balanced, with well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity. Its fruit-driven, easy-drinking style makes it remarkably versatile.

The wine is made from 100% Tempranillo. The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards across Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, allowing different soils and regional characteristics to contribute to the final blend. This combination of origins is an important part of the wine's distinctive character and balanced expression.

Its Crianza character comes from 14 months of ageing in second- and third-use American oak barrels. The oak supports the vibrant fruit while adding elegant notes of vanilla, liquorice, coconut and subtle toast. American oak ageing is a classic feature of Rioja winemaking and gives this wine its unmistakable traditional identity. The wine is subsequently refined in bottle under controlled conditions.

The regional identity of Ramón Bilbao Crianza is firmly rooted in Rioja, one of Spain's most renowned wine regions. The combination of Tempranillo, diverse Rioja terroirs and traditional American oak ageing creates an authentic interpretation of Rioja Crianza. At the same time, Ramón Bilbao is particularly known for a fresh and fruit-forward style that makes its wines exceptionally accessible.

Serve Ramón Bilbao Crianza at 16–18 °C. It pairs beautifully with Spanish cured meats, ham, soft and semi-mature cheeses, as well as grilled or slow-cooked meats. It is also an excellent match for Mediterranean dishes, savoury rice dishes and robust fish preparations.
