Masia Can Mayol
The Loxarel cellar was born from the vocation and innovative spirit of Josep Mitjans who, at just 16 years old, made his first 1000 bottles of sparkling wine, breaking the tradition of bulk production on the estate. That was in 1985. After four generations of contact with vineyards and the land, the moment had arrived to take a step further in the process of elaboration. Mitjans studied as an enologist and took up the challenge of managing the conversion of the business from the family vineyards.
The finca Can Mayol winery of Penedès has 22 hectares of organic and biodynamic grapevines where they cultívate Macabeo, Xarel·lo, Parellada, Chardonnay, Xarel·lo Vermell, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat grapes; in addition to the red grape varietals Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot y Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo).
