Pastries with French charm from la Rioja in Spain are unusual. Behind it is a love story from the beginning of the 20th century in Bordeaux. It was there that Josephine Bernaud and Esteban Cuesta met. Josephine moved to Hajo in Rioja with her husband and discovered the railway line between the two towns. She successfully baked biscuits and crackers as uncomplicated snacks for train travellers between Hajo and Bordeaux and ran a tearoom. Her recipes are still baked today according to the original records. Her great-granddaughters are preserving the treasure and expanding it in her spirit.
