A true taste of Galicia in a tin: tender sardines preserved in high-quality olive oil are paired with a Padrón pepper that has been gently fried beforehand. The result is a distinctive combination of delicate seafood flavour, savoury roasted notes and the characteristic surprise of the Padrón pepper – “Unas pican e outras non”, some are hot and some are not.

What makes La Curiosa special is its careful artisanal approach. The small sardines are traditionally caught in the Ría de Arousa using the selective “Xeito” fishing method and meticulously cleaned by hand. They are then traditionally toasted to achieve the desired texture and prevent them from breaking before being individually packed by hand. High-quality olive oil is used as the covering medium to preserve their flavour and texture.

The addition of Padrón pepper gives this preserve a strong sense of place. These small green peppers are one of Galicia’s culinary signatures and are famous for their unpredictable level of heat. This creates a distinctive meeting of sea and land, turning a traditional fish preserve into a contemporary expression of Galician gastronomy.
